Your coffee and grub comes with a dose of posters from your favorite retro bands and tons of flower- power nostalgia decor.
Diner by Lo Fi - 1325 J St.
The newest entry to the downtown zeitgeist, this retro inspired diner boasts espresso coffees and a varied brunch menu. Soak in the sun while enjoying your morning brew thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. Opened by the same owners of the adjacent Lo Fi Laboratory cocktail lounge, weekend diners have the option to enjoy their meal in the lounge accompanied with morning cocktail favorites.
Preservation Coffee & Tea - 1030 J St.
Located in the heart of downtown at the corner of J and 11th street, Preservation serves coffees and teas in a cozy independent coffee shop environment with tables both inside and out. Local art dominates the walls, while an upstairs space (reservable!) provides an alternate place to work, ideate, or create.
Culture Coffee Bar - 2801 McHenry Blvd.
Located at the opposite end of the Hobby Lobby strip mall on McHenry Ave, this bustling coffee shop started as a pop-up coffee trailer at the Modesto Farmers market. Since making the move to brick-and-motar, Culture Coffee Bar has been a go-to destination for brew lovers throughout town.
